Short version: ParentGuideAI is designed with privacy at its core. Your data — including your children's information, moments, and conversations — is stored entirely on your device. We do not create accounts, we do not sell your data, and we do not track you.
1. Introduction
Welcome to ParentGuideAI ("we", "our", or "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the ParentGuideAI mobile application ("App"). We are committed to protecting your family's privacy.
By using ParentGuideAI, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the App.
2. Information We Collect
Information stored on your device only:
- Children's names, dates of birth, gender, and profile photos
- Milestones, moments, and memories you save
- Reminders and notifications you create
- App preferences and settings
- An anonymous device identifier generated locally (e.g. "ABCD-1234") — never linked to your identity
Information sent to our AI service (for AI features only):
- The text of questions you ask the AI
- Your child's age in months and development stage (e.g. "toddler")
- Your child's first name (only when required for a personalized response)
This data is sent to our secure proxy server solely to generate an AI response. It is not stored, logged, or used for any other purpose.
Information accessed from your device (with your permission only):
- Photos you select from your photo library — used only to attach to memories or create AI Memory Stories within the app
- Photos you capture using your device camera — used only for the same in-app memory features
- No photos are uploaded to our servers or shared with third parties unless explicitly required for an AI Memory Story, in which case only the image you select is sent
3. How We Use Information
- To provide AI-generated parenting guidance personalized to your child's age
- To deliver the app features: insights, milestones, health checks, memory stories, and reminders
- To improve app performance (aggregate, anonymous usage signals only)
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties.
4. Data Storage & Security
All personal data about your children is stored locally on your device using React Native AsyncStorage. It never leaves your device except for the minimal context required by AI features (see Section 2).
Our proxy server uses HTTPS, rate limiting, and input validation to protect AI requests. No personally identifiable information is retained on our servers after the response is delivered.
5. Children's Privacy (COPPA / GDPR-K)
ParentGuideAI is an app for parents and guardians. The app stores information about children but is operated by adults. We do not knowingly allow children to use the App directly.
We do not collect children's data on our servers. All child-related data remains on the parent's device under the parent's full control.
6. Third-Party Services
ParentGuideAI uses the following third-party service to power AI features:
- DeepSeek AI — processes AI prompts. Only the question text and minimal child context (age, stage, first name) are sent. No personally identifiable data is stored by DeepSeek beyond the scope of the API call. See DeepSeek's Privacy Policy.
We do not integrate advertising SDKs, analytics platforms (e.g. Firebase, Mixpanel), or social login providers.
7. Device Permissions
ParentGuideAI requests the following device permissions to enable specific app features. All permissions are optional — you can use the core app without granting them, though some features will be unavailable.
📷 Camera
- Why we request it: To let you take a photo directly within the app when adding a child profile picture or capturing a memory moment.
- How it's used: Photos captured via the camera are stored locally on your device only. They are never uploaded to our servers unless you explicitly use the AI Photo Memory Story feature, in which case only the selected image is sent to generate the story.
- How to revoke: Go to your device Settings → ParentGuideAI → Camera and toggle it off at any time.
🖼 Photo Library (Gallery)
- Why we request it: To let you choose an existing photo from your gallery for a child's profile, a saved memory, or an AI Memory Story.
- How it's used: We only access the specific photo you select — we do not scan, read, or store your entire photo library. Selected photos remain on your device unless you use the AI Memory Story feature.
- How to revoke: Go to your device Settings → ParentGuideAI → Photos and change the permission level or turn it off at any time.
🔔 Notifications
- Why we request it: To deliver the reminders and smart alerts you set within the app — such as checkup reminders, milestone notifications, and daily parenting insights.
- How it's used: Notifications are scheduled locally on your device based on reminders you create. We do not use push notification services to send marketing messages or track your behaviour.
- How to revoke: Go to your device Settings → Notifications → ParentGuideAI and toggle notifications off at any time. You can also manage or delete individual reminders from within the app.
We follow the principle of least privilege — we only request permissions that are directly needed for a feature you choose to use, and we never access device resources in the background.
8. Data Deletion
You have full control over your data at all times:
- Clear Cache — deletes all saved moments and photos from your device
- Delete Account — permanently removes all children, moments, and settings from your device
- Uninstall the App — removes all locally stored data
Because we do not maintain server-side accounts, there is nothing for us to delete on our end.
9. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data held about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Data portability (export your data via the in-app export feature)
To exercise any of these rights or for any privacy enquiry, contact us at hello.parentguideai@gmail.com.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
